I recently did a mini-training on gut microbiota. The intestinal flora is responsible for so much of our health. Here are some highlights of the presentation.
Our gut microbes make the majority of our neurotransmitters; Serotonin, Dopamine & Norepinephrine. All mood regulators.
It's estimated that it makes up around 70% of our immune response.
It protects us against pathogens.
Helps the body absorb nutrition.
Produces some B vitamins and vitamin K.
Helps to maintain the integrity of our gut wall.
We deplete our gut microbiota and our health with:
Poor nutrition
Chemically laddered food
Lack of nutritional diversity
“germaphobia”
Antibiotic use
Smoking
Chronic stress
and more
Without a healthy flora we may experience:
Leaky gut
Autoimmune diseases
Inflammatory diseases
IBS
Asthma, allergies
Neurological disorders
Obesity
Diabetes
Heart Disease
Alzheimer's
Parkinsons
Depression
Anxiety
When the gut flora is healthy we can expect to be happy, and energetic with a healthy glow.
Sooooo....the next obvious question is: What can be done to optimize this very important aspect of health? Check out the
where I go over Ayurveda's simple recipe for optimum gut health.
PS. Every April and October I lead a group cleanse where we optimize our mental, emotional, and physical health. We do this by optimizing our gut and digestive health.
I never tire of watching members get AH-MAZ-ING results.
