I recently did a mini-training on gut microbiota. The intestinal flora is responsible for so much of our health. Here are some highlights of the presentation.
Our gut microbes make the majority of our neurotransmitters; Seratonin, Dopamine & Norepinephrine. All mood regulators.
It's estimated that it makes up around 70% of our immune response.
It protects us against pathogens.
Helps the body absorb nutrition.
Produces some B vitamins and vitamin K.
Helps to maintain the integrity of our gut wall.
We trash our gut microbiota and our health with:
Chemically laddered food
Lack of nutritional diversity
Without a healthy flora we may experience:
When the gut flora is healthy we can expect to be happy, and energetic with a healthy glow.
