Introducing the 7 tissues
according to Ayurveda

Just as a car needs a variety of components and fluids to function properly, the human body is also made up of various interdependent components that require nourishment and maintenance for optimal functioning.

Each tissue (dhatu) can be likened to a specific part of the car that needs attention:

The lymphatic tissue (rasa dhatu)is like the fuel that powers the engine.

The blood (rakta dhatu) as the oil that keeps the engine lubricated.

The muscle tissue (mamsa dhatu) as the tires that provide support and mobility.

The fat tissue (meda dhatu) as the battery that provides energy.

The bone tissue (asthti dhatu)  as the chassis that gives structure and support.

The reproductive tissues (shukra dhatu) as the transmission that enables reproduction.

Just as regular maintenance of a car's components ensures that it operates at peak performance, a holistic approach to nourishing and caring for each dhatu is necessary to achieve optimal health and well-being.

Also, it is believed that the body prioritizes the health of the dhatus in a specific order, and that each dhatu builds upon the one that comes before it.

By understanding the role of the specific dhatu in the body and its characteristics and applying the foods, practices, herbal remedies, mindfulness techniques and lifestyle habits,  you can create sustainable practices that support your health and well-being for the rest of your life.
